Much of Steam & Steel comes from my father's personal railroad library, assembled over many years by someone who could happily talk trains for hours. We held his memorial at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois. My brother created a railroad scavenger hunt for the day, and the museum liked it enough to keep it for future visitors. If you visit, you may still find a little piece of Dad's memorial there.

It's a remarkable place and a wonderful resource for railroad history, and one well worth supporting. I'm happy to send Dad's books on to their next railroad people.
